Midstream Transmission Company

Project Overview

The client faced growing structural integrity concerns after discovering corrosion on the H‑pile supports of their LNG pumphouse—an issue that posed risks to load‑bearing performance, long‑term safety, and operational reliability. They needed a partner capable of performing difficult underwater assessments and delivering a targeted, cost‑effective repair strategy that would restore confidence in the structure and reduce future maintenance demands. To meet this need, LSC designed and executed a comprehensive structural restoration solution. Working alongside an experienced local diving firm, LSC conducted a detailed underwater inspection and developed a repair approach that returned the piles to their original load‑bearing capacity.

Deliverables:

Strategic, Multi‑Disciplinary Planning

LSC brought together its structural and integrity engineering teams to deliver a coordinated solution that addressed the client’s corrosion concerns while protecting the long‑term integrity of the pumphouse structure. This collaboration ensured that every design and repair decision aligned with the client’s operational needs and future reliability goals

Efficient Execution That Reduced Cost and Improved Reliability

Clear, proactive communication helped streamline the project from start to finish. During the initial dive inspection, additional timber piles requiring attention were identified. After completing a thorough assessment, LSC recommended reinforcing the structure by repairing a perpendicular cross brace and replacing corroded hardware.

By completing all repairs concurrently, LSC minimized downtime, reduced overall project cost, and significantly strengthened the pumphouse’s structural performance—delivering a safer, more resilient asset for the client.
