Project Overview
The client needed to complete multiple Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs) across a diverse set of natural gas facilities—wellpads, dehydration stations, metering and regulation sites, condensate stabilization units, and compressor stations—to maintain compliance with OSHA PSM and EPA RMP requirements. With tight timelines, complex processes, and a large volume of safety‑critical documentation to review, the client required a partner who could execute efficiently, provide deep technical insight, and deliver high‑quality reports on schedule. To meet these needs, LSC completed six PHAs within a six‑month period, with individual assessments ranging from three days to three weeks. All reports were delivered on time to support continuous regulatory compliance. LSC has since continued to complete 1–2 PHAs annually as part of the client’s ongoing safety program.
Deliverables:
- Full Report of PHA Methods
- Potential Safety Hazards
- Recommendations

Ensuring Regulatory Compliance and Strengthening Operational Safety
LSC helped the client meet all requirements of the OSHA Process Safety Management (PSM) Standard and the EPA Risk Management Plan (RMP) by conducting thorough Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs) for processes involving highly hazardous chemicals. These efforts protected the client from potential regulatory penalties and supported safer working conditions across their facilities.
Using the HAZOP methodology, LSC reviewed more than 300 Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) and developed nearly 500 actionable recommendations that improved process safety, enhanced operability, and reduced operational risk.
Applying Deep Technical Expertise to Drive Better Outcomes
LSC brought extensive multidisciplinary experience—spanning process, mechanical, and controls engineering—to guide diverse teams through each PHA. The team compiled all required process safety information in advance and delivered tailored training to the client’s representatives, ensuring everyone was aligned and prepared.
This preparation enabled LSC to complete six PHAs over more than 50 days of in‑person collaboration, resulting in clear, comprehensive insights that empowered the client to strengthen system reliability and maintain safe, compliant operations.
