Project Overview
The client needed to replace an aging, river‑dependent cooling system that posed environmental challenges, created operational limitations, and raised long‑term reliability concerns for their 50 MW compressor station. They required a modern, efficient cooling solution that eliminated water‑source dependence while ensuring safe, reliable performance and supporting future system growth. To solve this, LSC delivered full engineering and procurement services for a closed‑loop glycol–water cooling system utilizing air‑cooled heat exchangers. Our multidisciplinary team designed all supporting components—piping reconfiguration, structural additions, and comprehensive electrical system upgrades—to ensure seamless installation and dependable long‑term operation. The project enabled the integration of six closed‑loop glycol‑water air heat exchangers, full glycol infrastructure, and a new electrical building, giving the client a cooling system that is environmentally responsible, operationally resilient, and built for sustained performance.
Deliverables:
- Electrical & Instrumentation Design
- Quality & Reporting
Electrical & Instrumentation Engineering
LSC strengthened system performance with a fully integrated electrical and instrumentation design. Key enhancements included:
These efforts provided data‑driven assurance that the upgraded cooling system would operate safely, efficiently, and in alignment with modern electrical reliability standards.
Quality Reporting & Verified System Performance
LSC delivered a comprehensive power‑system study report outlining all calculations, findings, and recommendations, complete with updated arc‑flash labels to support regulatory compliance and worker safety.
The final design not only improved cooling efficiency for the compressor station but also reduced environmental impact, strengthened electrical system resilience, and ensured full alignment with modern electrical‑safety standards.
