A Digital NDE & ILI Dig Program Built for Accuracy and Efficiency

Schedule

15 years

Location

Michigan

Client

Midstream Transmission Company

Project Overview

The client needed a smarter, more efficient way to manage a long‑running in‑line inspection (ILI) dig program that spanned roughly 2,000 miles of pipeline and generated more than 1,000 remediation and verification digs over nine years. Their existing process relied heavily on spreadsheets and email, creating inefficiencies, data‑entry errors, and communication gaps that slowed decision‑making and increased operational risk. To address these challenges, LSC provided engineering support for the full ILI dig program, covering MFL, caliper, and EMAT tool runs. LSC transformed the program by introducing digital workflows that improved how field data was captured, controlled, and communicated—reducing manual effort, eliminating errors, and creating a seamless, integrated process that continues to support the client today.

Deliverables:

  • ILI Dig Inspection
  • Data Analysis
  • Engineering Support. HDD Design and Execution
  • Soil Terrain Survey
  • Traffic Controls Plans
  • Environmental Permitting Support

A Smarter Way to Dig

LSC implemented digital solutions to improve the way field dig data is captured, managed, controlled and communicated. What was originally shared and documented through spreadsheets and email, is now streamlined through one digital platform – reducing data-entry time, eliminating errors, and providing an overall seamless process. LSC continues to support this program.
